Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P from the now-defunct music duo P-Square, has responded to accusations made by his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), who claimed that Peter reported him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a detailed statement, Peter clarified that he never filed a petition against his twin brother. Instead, he provided context for the situation that led to the EFCC’s involvement.
According to Peter, he, Paul, and their older brother, Jude Okoye, jointly own a management company called Northside Entertainment, which oversees all P-Square-related affairs. However, Peter discovered another company with a similar name, Northside Music, which was unknown to him.
Upon investigation, Peter was shocked to learn that Northside Music was founded and directed by Jude Okoye and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, and registered at Ifeoma’s family home. When Peter confronted Paul about the company, Paul denied any knowledge of it.
In response, Peter involved his legal team and instructed them to file a petition, but with explicit instructions to exclude Paul’s name from it. “I hereby challenge Paul, or anyone else, to show any petition that I, Peter Okoye, ever submitted against my twin brother Paul or that has Paul’s name in it,” Peter stated.
He did, however, admit to filing a petition against “the suspects, Jude Okoye and his wife Ifeoma Okoye,” after discovering that “millions of dollars and hundreds of millions of Naira were being secretly diverted into this secret company’s account, Northside Music, from our own Northside Entertainment.”
Peter further revealed that during the investigation, Jude confessed to diverting millions of dollars from Northside Entertainment to his secret company, which he and his wife directed. The EFCC investigation also uncovered that Jude’s company had been collecting royalties meant for Northside Entertainment for years.
Jude’s admission led to Paul’s name being mentioned during questioning, which is why the EFCC invited Paul. However, Peter reiterated that he never petitioned the EFCC against his brother.
Peter concluded by standing firm on his statement and invited anyone to present evidence to the contrary.
