Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie Jnr Pope and four others were working on before they died in a boat mishap on April 10, has finally spoken out about the tragic incident.
In a heartfelt video posted on her Instagram page, Adanma revealed that she was supposed to be on the ill-fated boat as well. The caption of the video read, “Why me? Life Jacket was free.”
Expressing her emotions, Adanma disclosed that she has been deeply affected by the traumatic event. She emphasized that she has not remained silent, despite not making any public statements earlier. Adanma explained that she has been actively involved in the efforts to recover the bodies of the victims. She has provided financial support for fuel, arranged caskets, and ambulances to ensure the bodies were transported to their respective villages for proper burial.
Adanma expressed her sorrow over the tragedy occurring on her set, blaming herself for being in Asaba instead of Lagos. She recounted how close she was to being on the boat, as her production manager had requested her to bring a memory card for filming. However, she postponed her trip, narrowly avoiding the fatal accident.
Recalling the moment she arrived at the scene, Adanma described her shock upon learning about the fate of her colleagues. She expressed her desire to search for them in the water but was restrained from doing so.
