Cameroon’s head coach, Rigobert Song, has sparked curiosity with his selection of a 27-man squad for AFCON 2023. Notably, key player Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was absent, while Andre Onana from
Manchester United made a return after initially retiring post-World Cup 2022. Local talents Leonel Ateba and Wilfried Nathan Douala earned spots.
Song explained the choices, stating, “We all know he is an important player. However, one has to make choices.
We are all convinced the youngsters (Ateba and Douala) are keen to live their dream.” The final squad will be confirmed by January 3, 2023.
