Celebrating Love, Family, and Milestones: The Duru Family at 25

In a world where commitment is often tested by the storms of life, Chief Ignatius Duru (Okpu na elu Okpu Nkwmbu na Amiri, Akurulo 1 na Nchoka, Alazoma Ancient Kingdom) and his beloved wife Dr. Mrs. Queen Duru (Lolo Osodieme 1 na Nchoko Amiri, Alazoma Ancient Kingdom) have stood firmly together, proving that true love endures.

This year, the couple joyfully celebrates 25 years of marriage — a journey defined by love, friendship, resilience, and an unshakable faith in God.

On October 18, 2025, their family and friends will gather in Newark, New Jersey, to celebrate a milestone of enduring love, their 25th wedding anniversary and renewal of vows.

The ceremony will be held at Blessed Sacrament St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 19 Veness by Clinton, Newark, NJ, at 4:00 PM prompt. Guests will then enjoy a cocktail hour from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the Holiday Inn Newark International Airport, followed by a grand reception at 9:00 PM in the Banquet Hall.

With colors of the day set as Silver, Emerald Green, Peach, and White, the event promises not only elegance but also a reflection of the couple’s vibrant journey together.

Chief Ignatius Duru has dedicated his career to serving humanity as a nurse with the State of New Jersey, working with mentally challenged patients. Dr. Mrs. Queen Duru, is an Advanced Practice Nurse specializing in Gerontology and Homecare Consultancy, with a passion for teaching and mentorship.

From the beginning, they were united not just as husband and wife but as best friends and partners in purpose. Their shared values of compassion and service shine brightly in their professions.

Together, they have faced life’s challenges with grace. “We have gone through thick and thin, but it did not break us,” the couple affirms. “God is our solid rock, and His banner over us is love.” Their love story continues to grow stronger with each passing day, and their gratitude to God only deepens as they look forward to the years ahead.

The Duru home is a nurturing ground where education, hard work, and creativity are celebrated. Their three children reflect this legacy in remarkable ways:

  • Mr. Uchenna Jr. Duru – A graduate of Hartford University, Connecticut, with a Master’s degree in Psychology, Uchenna currently works with Newark Beth Israel. With a Ph.D. in view, he remains a lover of books and quiet reflection, embodying discipline and intellectual pursuit.

  • Mr. Ikenna Darlington Duru – An undergraduate student at Temple University, Philadelphia, Ikenna is pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy. Beyond academics, he is also a creative designer with a flair for fashion, building his brand Atoo, which showcases his innovative spirit.

  • Miss Adanna Promise Duru – Currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Notre Dame University, Baltimore, Adanna brings her passion for beauty and creativity to life through her craft, Styled by Adanna, specializing in hair braiding.

Each child reflects the Duru family’s commitment to excellence and their parents’ dedication to raising a new generation of achievers.

As the couple celebrates this silver jubilee, they stand as a testament that love, when rooted in faith and friendship, not only endures but flourishes.
