Nigerian music star Davido has responded to the counter affidavit filed by Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade Adeleke. This development follows the singer’s legal actions seeking joint custody or, alternatively, unrestricted access to their daughter.
Earlier today, details of Sophia’s counter affidavit emerged online. In the 100-paragraph document, she emphasized that their 9-year-old daughter, Imade, has always lived with her and that she has been solely responsible for Imade’s welfare and well-being.
Sophia raised significant concerns about granting custody to Davido, citing the unfortunate and questionable circumstances surrounding the death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi. She argued that this incident indicated that their daughter should not be placed in his custody.
In response, Davido expressed his frustration with Sophia’s repeated references to the tragic death of his son. He criticized her for using the incident to strengthen her case and emotionally manipulate the situation. In a surprising turn, Davido seemed to back down from the custody battle, telling Sophia that she could have full custody of Imade.
Davido addressed the situation publicly, writing:
“You’re constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point you can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us every day of our lives. Imade will grow up to see I fought for her. As for now, you can have her. P.S she won’t be a child forever. Enjoy Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”
This emotional reaction underscores the ongoing tension between Davido and Sophia as they navigate the complexities of co-parenting and legal disputes over custody.
