Dele Momodu Criticizes New University Admission Age Requirement

Dele Momodu has voiced his concerns over the recent decision regarding the university admission age in Nigeria.

On August 26, President Bola Tinubu’s administration implemented a new policy mandating that only individuals aged 18 and above can take the National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.

This decision has sparked controversy, with many questioning what students who typically finish secondary school at 15 or 16 years old are supposed to do while waiting to meet the age requirement for university entrance exams.

Adding his voice to the debate, Ovation Magazine publisher Dele Momodu highlighted the case of Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman, who earned her doctoral degree in integrated behavioral health from Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions at just 17 years old.

Momodu expressed his frustration on Instagram, stating, “And the Federal Government, via the Ministry of Education, is saying Nigerian children should wait until they are 18 before they can write WAEC, NECO, and JAMB.”
