In a move to mitigate the impact of petrol subsidy removal, the federal government has distributed N5 billion in palliatives to every state in the federation, including the federal capital territory (FCT). Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state announced this development during a recent national economic council (NEC) meeting held on August 17. The session, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, saw the
participation of governors from all 36 states, along with Ministers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), among other notable members.
