The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought three charges against Instagram personality Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, for allegedly spraying and tampering with the Nigerian currency at a social gathering, a violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
Cubana Chief Priest is scheduled to appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
This development follows the recent sentencing of controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, to six months imprisonment for a similar offense.
According to Channels Television, the charges were filed on April 4th by EFCC prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and seven other legal representatives of the Commission.
In the first count, it is alleged that Okechukwu Pascal tampered with funds issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them during a social event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024.
The second count accuses Okechukwu Pascal of a similar offense during a social event in Lagos in 2020.
Lastly, the third count alleges that Okechukwu Pascal engaged in the unauthorized spraying of funds during a social event in Lagos in January 2024.
The charges, if proven, are punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
