A fire outbreak has occurred at the Rivers State Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt, with the Podium Block section of the building going up in flames on Sunday, October 6.
Videos from the scene showed thick black smoke rising from the building, prompting panic among workers and nearby residents. Many people were seen rushing out of the premises as emergency responders worked to control the situation.
The affected section reportedly houses several state ministries, including those for Works and Social Welfare.
As of the time of this report, the cause of the fire has not been determined, and the Rivers State Government is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
