Kanye West’s Musical Claims Spark Debate: Who Really Shaped the Sound of the Last 20 Years?

In a recent interview with Big Boy TV, Kanye West once again found himself at the center of controversy as he boldly asserted his influence over the past two decades of music. Sitting alongside Ty Dolla Sign, Ye confidently proclaimed his role in shaping various music genres over the years, sparking a flurry of disagreement on social media.

“I invented every style of music of the past 20 years, I created the genre. I created Weeknd’s genre. Trav, Drake, everybody,” he declared. “I’mma go ahead and say with all love, Future and Thug also because the auto-tune album, 808s.”

While Ye credited himself for pioneering new musical territories, not everyone was quick to agree. Boosie Badazz, taking to Instagram shortly after the interview aired, disputed Ye’s claims, asserting that his music and style were not influenced by the controversial rapper.

“NOT ALL GENRES NOT EVERY STYLE,” Boosie stated. “NOT BOOSIE MUSIC. YOU CAN’T RELATE TO NOTHING I RAP ABOUT R YOUR MUSIC. NOBODY LISTENS TO KANYE IN THE PROJECTS R THE TRENCHES IM, A GON HEAD N SAY IT ‘ MY PEOPLE DO NOT RELATE TO YOU.'”

In response to Boosie’s criticism, Ye took to his Instagram Story to throw a bit of shade, highlighting the creation of the song “Wipe Me Down” in 2007 and disavowing any responsibility for its genre.

“I JUST SAW THAT ‘WIPE ME DOWN’ WAS MADE IN 2007,” he wrote. “I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHATEVER THAT GENRE WOULD BE CALLED.”

With tensions escalating between the two artists, the question remains: What are your thoughts on Kanye West’s bold claims of musical invention spanning two decades? And how do you interpret Boosie’s impassioned response? Only time will tell if this musical feud will continue to escalate.
