Renowned football legend Lionel Messi has openly discussed his retirement plans, emphasizing his commitment to the game until he no longer feels valuable to his team.

In an interview with Big Time, Messi shared insights into his retirement mindset, stating that he will exit the field when he senses he can no longer contribute effectively. He expressed his self-awareness, acknowledging his ability to assess his performance objectively.

“I know that the moment I feel that I am no longer able to perform, that I no longer enjoy [playing], or [can] help my teammates, I will quit,” Messi stated. He highlighted his self-criticism, emphasizing his awareness of his form and his readiness to step away when necessary, regardless of age.

While retirement isn’t imminent for Messi, he emphasized his focus on enjoying each day and remaining immersed in the present. “Today I try to enjoy the day-to-day, the moments, without thinking about life after [football],” he added.
