Mixed Reactions as Cubana Chief Priest Granted Bail in Naira Abuse Case

Nigerians are expressing varied opinions following the news of Justice Kehind Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos granting a N10 million bail to businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Cubana Chief Priest with three counts of naira abuse at a social event, allegedly violating the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Upon the reading of the charges, Cubana Chief Priest pleaded not guilty and was subsequently granted bail.

The decision has sparked discussions on social media platforms, with some Nigerians highlighting perceived inconsistencies in the EFCC’s handling of the case. One individual noted the absence of a mugshot or public ridicule of Cubana Chief Priest, contrasting it with the treatment received by Bobrisky in a similar situation.

Another commentator speculated on the legal strategy employed by Bobrisky, suggesting that the controversial figure’s legal team might have provided astute advice, given his guilty plea during his arraignment on April 17.
