Nigerian Artist Portable Appeals for Forgiveness, Vows to Shift from Cash Spraying to Bank Transfers

Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, and the head of Zeh Nation, has made a public plea for forgiveness from the government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding his practice of distributing money to his fans.

In a live chat on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the street artist expressed concerns about the possible repercussions of his actions and announced changes in his approach to financial generosity.

Portable, famous for hits like “Tony Montana,” acknowledged his past habit of generously distributing large sums of money to his followers, often totaling nearly N2 million daily. He clarified that his intentions were rooted in kindness and assisting others.

However, in light of increased scrutiny and the recent six-month jail sentence given to Bobrisky, Portable has adopted a more cautious approach. Fearful of potential consequences, he publicly apologized and sought forgiveness from authorities and the anti-graft agency.

Assuring his fans of his commitment to their well-being, Portable declared that he would cease the practice of cash spraying and encouraged them to open bank accounts. Instead of direct cash distribution, he pledged to provide support through bank transfers.

“I didn’t deface the Naira; I’ve helped many people. After God, it’s the Government. Please forgive me if you have videos of me spraying money. No more cash spraying,” Portable emphasized during the live chat.

The artist’s decision to transition from cash distribution to bank transfers marks a new phase in his efforts to continue supporting his fans while mitigating potential legal risks.
