Starting September 2023, Nigerians will be required to pay N107,500 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations, up from the current fees of N80,000 and N90,000. These exams are essential for specific visa applications in Western countries. The decision to increase the fees was made by the exam governing body to uphold the superior quality and standards of the testing process.
In a communication directed towards potential test takers, the British Council stated:
“Dear Esteemed Test Taker, We wish to notify you that commencing on September 1, 2023, there will be an adjustment in the pricing for IELTS assessments conducted by the British Council.
The revised charges will be NGN 107,500 for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, NGN 116,000 for UK Visas and Immigration, and NGN 104,000 for Life Skills.
These modifications in pricing are imperative to ensure the continued delivery of exceptional standards throughout your testing journey. We express our gratitude for selecting the British Council.”
