Olympic Star Simone Biles Explains Why She Chose Breast Augmentation and Speaks on Self-Love

Olympic legend Simone Biles has opened up about her decision to undergo breast augmentation and other cosmetic procedures, saying she chose to be transparent so that others — especially young women — can feel comfortable in their own skin.

Speaking to People Magazine, the 28-year-old gymnast said her decision had nothing to do with insecurity but rather with self-love and personal comfort.

“Okay, obviously you can notice the breasts,” Biles said. “But other than that, it’s just feeling good about yourself and loving yourself. It wasn’t that I didn’t like how I looked — I just wanted to make a change for me.”

Biles revealed that she has undergone three cosmetic procedures in total:

  • A breast augmentation,

  • A lower blepharoplasty (to reduce hereditary eye bags), and

  • A corrective ear surgery, after an earring was torn out during childhood

She explained that the blepharoplasty was something she had long wanted because of what she called the “Biles eye bags.”

“It’s hereditary — everyone in my family has them,” she said. “Every time I’d go to a photoshoot, they’d say, ‘Can we fix that?’ I’d be like, ‘I had 12 hours of sleep; they’re not going anywhere!’ So it was something I chose to fix.”

Last month, Biles shared a TikTok video where she discussed her surgeries, adding that “two of them, you’d never even notice.”

The 11-time Olympic medalist said she hopes her openness helps others understand that beauty decisions are personal and that no one should feel ashamed for making them.

“Seeing me win medals at the Olympics isn’t always relatable,” she explained. “But what’s relatable is how we feel about ourselves and how we share honestly. That’s why I decided to open up.”

Biles also cautioned against the pressures of social media perfection, emphasizing that authenticity matters most.

“Social media is not real,” she said. “I just want young girls to know they have the right to make their own choices — no shame, no pressure. As long as you love yourself, that’s what truly matters.”

Biles added that she once tried Botox for her 27th birthday but didn’t like the results, saying it gave her a “floating eyebrow.” She shared the experience publicly to remind fans that beauty experiments don’t define worth.

“You don’t have to do these things to fit in,” she said. “Confidence is about loving yourself — not about perfection.”
