Renowned Nigerian music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, reveals plans for a captivating film chronicling her decades-long journey in the music industry, aiming to share her rich experiences firsthand. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, the “elegant stallion” expressed her excitement about delving into the evolution of Nigerian music since the 1970s.

Titled “Onyeka Onwenu: A Musical Odyssey,” the film promises to offer audiences an intimate insight into the artist’s remarkable career trajectory and her invaluable contributions to the Nigerian music scene.

Onwenu shared, “I am currently working on a film that will chronicle my experiences in the music industry from the 70s to the present day. Having been a part of this narrative for decades, I have a wealth of stories to share.”

Beyond the cinematic venture, Onwenu is revitalizing her classic hits by collaborating with emerging talents, offering listeners a refreshing take on timeless melodies. She also released a new single, “Abu Otito (Songs of Praise),” with proceeds dedicated to supporting widows through the Rose of Sharon Foundation.

“I am passionate about using music to address social issues. From supporting widows to promoting education among rural children, I strive to make a positive impact through my art,” Onwenu affirmed.

Additionally, she unveiled plans to expand her philanthropic initiatives to Imo state, emphasizing her commitment to providing educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
