Pair Charged with Murder in Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting

Two individuals are facing second-degree murder charges following the tragic shooting incident at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade last week.

Dominic M. Miller from Kansas City and Lyndell Mays from Raytown have been identified as the suspects by prosecutors. They are accused of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon, according to a statement from the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

It’s clarified that these individuals are distinct from the two juveniles charged with gun-related offenses and resisting arrest last week.

Prosecutors claim that Mays initiated the confrontation by brandishing his firearm, leading to a escalation involving Miller and others pulling out guns.

During a press conference on Tuesday, prosecutor Jean Peters Baker stated that Miller is believed to have fired the fatal shot that claimed the life of local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

Moreover, Baker announced that the investigation is ongoing, with additional suspects being sought by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Both Miller and Mays sustained injuries from the incident and remain hospitalized as of Tuesday, as per Peters Baker.

If convicted, the two could face life imprisonment and are currently held on a $1,000,000 bond.

The tragic incident resulted in the death of Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and a beloved local radio DJ, while 22 others, aged between 8 and 47, were injured.

Initially, police detained three juveniles, but one was released after determining their lack of involvement in the shooting.

Law enforcement sources have disclosed that specialists from the ATF are actively working to link firearms owned by suspects to evidence found at the crime scene.
