Patrick Mahomes Sr. Faces DWI Charges: Former Baseball Pitcher in Legal Trouble

Former professional baseball pitcher Patrick Mahomes Sr., 51, faces felony DWI charges in Texas after allegedly driving drunk earlier this year. If convicted, he could spend up to 10 years in jail and face a fine of $10,000.

Mahomes, the father of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, was arrested on February 3 in Smith County, Texas, just days before his son played in Super Bowl LVIII. Authorities claim Mahomes Sr. displayed signs of impairment during a routine traffic stop and admitted to consuming alcohol before driving, with an open 16-ounce Coors beverage found in his center console.

Despite previous DWI accusations, Mahomes Sr. kept a low profile after his release from jail, even attending his son’s NFL championship victory in Las Vegas. Though he had suite seats, he avoided public attention. Patrick Mahomes II briefly addressed his father’s legal situation before the game, preferring to keep it a “family matter.”
