President Joe Biden, 81, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms, according to an announcement by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The positive test result came after Biden’s first event in Las Vegas, where he was slated to speak at the UnidosUS annual conference. The Latino civil rights organization confirmed Biden’s diagnosis and his subsequent inability to attend the event.
Jean-Pierre stated, “He is vaccinated and boosted and he is experiencing mild symptoms. He will be returning to Delaware where he will self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.”
The White House will provide regular updates on the president’s condition as he continues to perform his presidential duties while in isolation.
