Nollywood actor Joseph Benjamin, who moved to the United States in 2016, recently shared the reason for his decision to work as a cab driver. During an appearance on the Teju Babyface Deep Dive podcast hosted by comedian Monday, the 46-year-old actor explained that he turned to driving cabs to cover his living expenses.
Benjamin had initially moved to America with expectations of booked gigs, but when those fell through, he found himself in a tight spot financially. With the pressure to pay rent on a well-furnished house, he turned to driving for Uber, Lyft, and even working as an Amazon delivery person. Despite the challenges, he persevered and was even recognized by some Nigerian passengers during his Uber trips.
