Official reports confirm that Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will be leaving Chippa United before the start of the new season.
Nwabali is set to embrace a new challenge with another team, having demonstrated his skills at both national and club levels. Chippa United’s goalkeeping coach, Sean Louw, confirmed that Nwabali will not be the team’s number one goalkeeper next season.
“On physical hard copy paper, I don’t know how many offers he has received, but verbally, he has around 10 or even 12 offers. He is definitely not coming back to Chippa next season,” Louw stated.
Reflecting on Nwabali’s time at Chippa, Louw added, “When Nwabali arrived at Chippa, he wasn’t very proficient with his footwork and was unable to play from the back. However, he has significantly improved his footwork.”
Nwabali played a key role in helping Nigeria reach the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, where they narrowly lost to Ivory Coast. He also played a crucial role in Chippa’s run to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup, where they were defeated by Orlando Pirates. Throughout all competitions, he kept a total of 12 clean sheets. With his exceptional performance and dedication, it is likely that a bigger club will sign him.
While Nwabali has not expressed a specific preference for his next move, he has indicated a desire to remain in the Premier Soccer League. Kaizer Chiefs have shown significant interest in signing him to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
As of now, the next step for the Super Eagles goalkeeper remains uncertain, but with his current form, interest from top club sides across different leagues continues to be strong.
Stanley Nwabali, who recently celebrated his birthday, has not commented on his future at Chippa United or any other club in recent interviews.
