Tems, Burna Boy make history as African artistes with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries

Nigerian Afrobeats superstars Tems and Burna Boy have cemented their dominance on the global music stage by officially breaking the record for the most Billboard US Hot 100 entries by African artists. The duo secured this historic milestone on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, breaking their previous tie with the South African rock band Seether to reach a groundbreaking eight entries each. The new chart placements were achieved following their highly anticipated guest appearances on American rapper J. Cole’s newly released album, The Fall-Off. According to the latest Billboard chart data, the track “Bounce Road Blues,” which features Tems alongside Future, made a strong debut at No. 34, while “Only You,” featuring Burna Boy, entered the chart at No. 78.

This achievement highlights a season of unparalleled success for both artists, particularly for Tems, who has already recorded three separate Billboard Hot 100 entries in the first few months of this year alone. Before this latest record, she made headlines on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, when her solo single “What You Need” debuted on the chart, making her the first African female artist to reach seven entries. Meanwhile, the Grammy-winning “African Giant,” Burna Boy, has extended his own remarkable legacy by becoming the first African artist to have a song chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, maintaining an unbroken streak from 2021 through 2026. Music executives and fans across the continent are celebrating the joint record as undeniable proof of Afrobeats’ sustained commercial power and expanding footprint in the highly competitive American music market.
