Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairperson of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to not raise taxes or further burden taxpayers. Responding to unverified reports of impending tax hikes on August 15, Oyedele emphasized the government’s objective to streamline the nation’s 60-plus official taxes into a single-digit tax structure.
Oyedele stated;
“We are confident that by garnering collective support, we can achieve this goal. Our focus remains on closing the tax gap to boost revenue, eliminating the need for tax increases. The committee’s inaugural meeting and workshop are scheduled for next week Tuesday, where further details will be shared with the public.”
